Wandell was first introduced to the sport of grappling in 1991 when he joined the wrestling team at East Laurens High School. After qualifying for state competition during his very first season, his family relocated the following year to Lake Seminole, Georgia, where grappling opportunities were unfortunately unavailable.

Years later, now residing in Dothan, Wandell was reintroduced to grappling through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and quickly developed a deep passion for both the art and the process of teaching it. He is currently a Black Belt under Jeff Sullivan and serves as the lead instructor for both the adult and youth programs.

One of Wandell’s greatest passions is helping students understand techniques and concepts while watching their skill, confidence, and character grow along the way. He is supported by his wife, Carol, and his two daughters, Mikalah and Gracie, who are both actively involved in training and learning Jiu Jitsu as well.
